Description:
A finely hand-hammered sterling silver bowl made by John Ansell for Jay & Co., hallmarked in 1908 and retailed by Jay’s Ltd., 142-144 Oxford Street, London. Bearing four distinct English hallmarks, including the lion passant for sterling, leopard’s head for London, and the date letter "n" for 1908, this bowl exemplifies the Arts and Crafts movement with its honest materials, functional design, and refined detailing. The gently rippled surface and elegant double-ring handles reflect the skilled craftsmanship of the period.
