Description

A late 19th-century English oak vessel mounted with silver plate, constructed in the manner of traditional coopered staves. Lion mask handles with ring pulls flank the body, centered by a cartouche engraved “September 1892,” suggesting a commemorative origin. Raised on a circular foot with a fitted metal liner, it functions as a wine cooler while reading as a sculptural table object. Stamped to the underside with a maker’s mark of an archer within a shield and numbered 21573, with natural separation visible between the oak staves from age and construction.
