Albertz Benda is delighted to present an exhibition featuring Christopher Le Brun and Edmond Brooks-Beckman, two prominent London-based painters. The show, held in our Los Angeles gallery behind Chateau Marmont, showcases their expressive and tactile mark-making on canvas, providing an intimate viewing experience in a unique domestic setting.
About Christopher Le Brun
Christopher Le Brun, a distinguished figure in British painting since the 1980s, has explored both figurative and abstract themes through painting, sculpture, and print. As the former President of the Royal Academy of Arts, London (2011-2019), Le Brun's work is recognized for its lyrical color and touch, drawing extensively from various artistic, musical, and literary sources. Knighted in 2021, his art celebrates the intrinsic joy and poetry of painting.
About Edmond Brooks-Beckman
Edmond Brooks-Beckman, a recent MA graduate from the Royal College of Art (2023), employs an archaeological approach to abstraction. His paintings are characterized by layers of reworked surfaces and recycled materials, often incorporating symbolic elements of his Jewish heritage. Brooks-Beckman’s work emphasizes process and material exploration over narrative.
